M.A. (UK), M.A. Gestalt Psychotherapy (GPTIM), ECP, MAP
If you are reading this, the chances are that there may be something in your life which is troubling you, and you are choosing to deal with it. It’s not easy to ‘go it’ alone, and most people find that talking things over with a trained and experienced professional is of great support in their struggle. You have taken your first important step on the path to serenity.
What can I do for you?
In short, Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual's well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome feelings, thoughts, emotions, beliefs and behaviours, and to improve relationships and social skills. Buried deep within each one of us is the answer to life’s challenges and, together, we can co-create a safe space for you to explore and draw on your own personal internal resources, in complete confidentiality.
I am 65 years ‘young’, and I work with adults and young adults * of all ages. Some come to me with issues which they wish to address in an individual, one-to-one session, either face-to-face or online. And some are going through relationship turmoil and wish to avail of ‘Couples Therapy’, where both partners attend sessions together - typically in a face-to-face setting.
Common presenting issues are related to anger, anxiety, and depression, but clients experience many other kinds of life hitches. Elements in their environment may be causing stress, e.g. in their work life, social life, or at home. Some may be feeling distraught after undergoing a recent loss or separation; others are experiencing disquiet and confusion when faced with one of the many challenging transitions life throws at us, such as the inevitable but potentially traumatic shift from adulthood into old age, menopause, retirement, widowhood, to name but a few. Whatever your issue, my task is to be there for you, with you, to listen and support you throughout your journey of self-discovery.
My CV in a nutshell:
I was born and raised in Benghazi, Libya, and I have lived in many different countries since then. I am fluent in English, Maltese and Italian, and I have a working knowledge of Spanish and Arabic, and a smattering of French. I believe that my travels and my varied life experience have provided me with an insight into cultural diversity and related difficulties. My earlier profession as an educator is multi-faceted, and I have worked as a lecturer in countries as far away as the Sultanate of Oman. I have now permanently settled in Malta, where I am kept busy growing my private psychotherapy practice. My clinics are in Zurrieq and in Safi.
